Dracula Illustrated Book

Art Direction: Paul Kepple

This project is an illustrated edition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. I illustrated eight different scenes in the novel and designed the typographic system, cover, chapter pages and endpages. My challenge for this project was to keep a minimal color palette of red, gray, white, and black which adds to the haunting nature of the story as well as designing characters that kept the classic look of Dracula but with newer elements of design added.

Johnathan Harker and Dracula discussing real estate at the Count’s castle.

Johnathan encounters the trio of female vampires living in the castle.

Dracula, in his wolf-like form, exits The Demeter leaving carnage in his wake.

Lucy Westenra sleeps while unaware she is being watched by Dracula.

Vampire turned Lucy walks through the cemetery carrying her latest victim.

Van Helsing, Johnathan and Mina Harker, Arthur Holmwood, Quincey Morris, and John Seward discuss a strategy for finishing off Dracula.

Van Helsing stakes the female vampires as they sleep during the day.

Johnathan and Quincey successfully kill Dracula through knife stabs through the throat and chest.
